Cairo is much busier than this movie suggests! Traffic is absolutely wild, with cars getting precariously close to one another – and as a result there is no car without a dent or scratch. Pedistrians fill the streets, voices, car horns, motors, music… it’s a cacophony, a wall of sound! The government is planning to move the parliament and consulates and all governmental offices to a new town 40 miles to the east of Cairo, so that the city traffic will get some release. I was surprised to learn that the subway in Cairo is one of the oldest in the world.
